Remembering the Legacy of Jerry Guidry

Jerry Guidry’s real estate career took off in the 80’s when he opened Guidry & Co. Real Estate where he achieved his highest goals! He represented the trendsetters in Lafayette and then began buying and selling real estate for himself. Later the oil crunch in Acadiana had him refocusing his efforts and he founded Crawfish Town USA in 1986. Jerry was the creative Cajun cook for 15 years, during which time it became world famous. He later remodeled the restaurant, sold it, and created a boom there where he planned an RV resort, then sold the property where Cajun Palms, now known as Camp Margaritaville Breaux Bridge, is located. Before that, Jerry owned and operated other businesses such as Heads & Threads, Sue Ellen’s, and Sugar Shack. He was an electrical lineman for the City of Lafayette, a licensed plumber, a licensed cosmetologist, and a licensed real estate broker. All the while, real estate was his first love. Jerry has made many real estate investments around Acadiana. At one time, he owned 68 acres of property. He began and sold the development at the southeast corner of the Breaux Bridge exit at I-10, where you can now find Pilot, Burger King, Courtesy Motors, Dixie RV, Walmart, and several hotels. We always say Jerry bought and sold real estate like Jeni buys shoes!
